エリンギウム・アメシスティヌム [Index] [Back] 地中海地方の東部が原産です。乾燥した石灰岩地に生え、高さは３０〜５０センチになります。根生葉は倒卵形で羽状に分裂し、トゲがあり革質で、緑色です。盛夏から夏の終わりに花を咲かせます。花は淡い青色から紫色で、銀青色の苞葉に包まれた、円筒形の散形花序に咲きます。花は、チョウの好物です。  セリ科ヒゴタイサイコ属の多年草で、学名は Eryngium amethystinum。英名は Amethyst sea holly、Amethyst eryngo。  The amethyst sea holly (Eryngium amethystinum) belongs to Apiaceae (the Carrot family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the eastern Mediterranean. This herb grows on dry places and soils that are rich in calcium, and can reach 30-50 cm in height. The basal leaves are obovate, pinnate, spiny, leathery, and mid-green. It flowers in mid to late summer. The flowers are light blue to purple , bloom in the cylindrical umbels with silvery blue bracts.
