Avalanche lily (Erythronium montanum) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Pacific Northwest of North America. This herb grows in damp subalpine woodlands and alpine meadows, and it can reach 15-20 cm in height. The leaves are green, unmottled, oblong-lanceolate with undulating edges and sharply pointed tips. The flowers are glistening white, yellow to orange-yellow at base, and bloom in few-flowered clusters from late spring to mid summer.
