ブラジルが原産です。１属１種です。樹木などに着生し、３〜４ミリほどの円柱状の茎が垂れ下がります。茎の先に、黄白色の花を咲かせますが、芳香があります。園芸上は「あさのしも（朝の霜）」と呼ばれます。

サボテン科エリスロリプサリス属の柱サボテンで、学名は Erythrorhipsalis pilocarpa。英名はありません。

The Erythrorhipsalis pilocarpa belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a treelike cuctus that is native to Brazil. It is the only species in the genus Erythrorhipsalis. It grows on trees and other plants, and has a drooping cylindrical stem about 3 to 4 mm long. Yellowish-white flowers bloom at the ends of the stems and are fragrant. Horticulturally, it is called "朝の霜" (Asano-shimo) in Japan.
