The Exbury azalea (Rhododendron sanctum var. lasiogynum) belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is a deciduous shrub that is a horticultural hybrid bred at Exbury Gardens in Hampshire, England. This was cross-breeding of both Japanese azaleas and European and Chinese deciduous azaleas. Most plants can reach 90-150 cm in height. The large funnel-shaped flowers come in April to June. The flower colors are mainly yellow and orange, but there are also red, white, and pink.
