わが国の北海道と本州に分布しています。やや砂地の草原や河原などに生え、高さは３０〜８０センチになります。葉は線形で光沢があり、輪生します。７月から８月ごろ、茎の上部の花序に白色から淡黄色の小さな花を咲かせます。

アカネ科ヤエムグラ属の多年草で、学名は Galium verum var. trachycarpum。英名はありません。

|
"Ezo-no-kawara-matsuba" (Galium verum var. trachycarpum) belongs to Rubiaceae (the Madder family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Hokkaido and Honshu of Japan. This herb grows in sandy grasslands or streambanks and can reach 30-80 cm in height. The leaves are linear, glossy and arranged in whorled. The white to pale yellow, small flowers bloom in the inflorescences on the upper stems from July to August.
