The Seaside ragwort (Senecio pseudoarnica) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in northern Honshu and Hokkaido in Japan, as well as northeastern China, the Ussuri region, the Kamchatka Peninsula, and North America. It grows on sandy beaches and reaches a height of 30 to 50 cm. The stem branches at the base and is covered with arachnoid hair. The leaves are obovate-oblong or oblong, narrowing slightly at the base and slightly enfolding the stem. Around August, corymb-like inflorescences appear at the top of the stems and yellow flower heads bloom. The flower heads are 4 to 5 cm in diameter and have a single row of ray florets. The fruit is a cylindrical achene with a pappus. It is called "多肉千里光" (duo rou qian li guang) in Chinese.
