わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道に分布しています。山地に生え、高さは30〜90センチになります。茎はあまり分枝せず、葉は1〜2回3出複葉です。卵形の小葉は羽状に深裂します。7月から9月ごろ、茎の上部に散形花序をだし、小さな白い花を咲かせます。花序の基部には2〜3個の細かい総苞片と小総苞片があります。 
セリ科シラネニンジン属の多年草で、学名は Tilingia holopetala(syn. Ligusticum holopetalum)。英名はありません。 
"Ibuki-zeri-modoki" (Tilingia holopetala) belongs to Apiaceae (the Carrot family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from the Chubu region of Honshu northward to Hokkaido in Japan. It grows in mountainous areas and is 30-90 cm tall. The stem is unbranched, and the leaves are 1 to 2 times triternate compound. From July to September, small white flowers bloom in umbels at the top of the stem. At the base of the inflorescence are two or three fine involucral scales and involucel segments.
