"Ibuki-zasa" (Sasa tsuboiana) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a bumboo that is distributed in Izu Peninsula, the northeastern part of Kinki region of Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu in Japan. It grows in mountainous areas and forms large colonies. The height of the culm is 1.5 to 2 m, and the nodes swell into a globular shape. It is well branched at the top, and the leaves open radially. The leaf blade is 15-25 cm long and hairless on both sides. It is also called "Tsuboi-zasa" or "Amagi-zasa" in Japan.
