アフリカの東部や南部が原産です。別名で「アフリカほうせんか（アフリカ鳳仙花）」とも呼ばれます。わが国の「つりふねそう（釣船草）」などの近縁種で、湿地帯に生え、高さは２０〜３０センチになります。葉は卵形でやわらかく、互生します。７月から９月ごろ、赤色や白色、ピンク、オレンジ色などの花を咲かせます。写真中３・中４はウガンダ産の「アフリカンピンク」。園芸品種も数多く作出されています。 |

The Impatiens belongs to Balsaminaceae (the Balsam family). It is an annual herb that native to eastern and southern Africa. It is also known as "Africa-hosenka" in Japan. It is closely related to the Japanese touch-me-not and grows in wetlands and is 20 to 30 cm tall. It grows in wetlands and is 20 to 30 cm tall. Its leaves are ovate, soft and alternate, and it produces red, white, pink or orange flowers from July to September. The 4th and 5th photos show "African pink" from Uganda. Many garden varieties have been produced. |
