マメ科インゲンマメ属の一年草で、学名は Phaseolus vulgaris。英名は French bean。
The French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is an annual herb that is native to soutern Mexico and Central America. This herb was introduced o Japan by Buddhist monk "Yinyuan Longqi" in 17th century. This herb can harvest beans from April to July. Frensh bean is used for cooking, deep-fried food, dressing in a sesami sause, saute in a butter or salad. The varieties are classified as vine or vine-less, round or flat capsules.
