わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。山地の急傾斜地や岸壁などに生え、高さは３０〜８０センチになります。花茎のない茎は低く、葉は広いさじ形で、大きな鋸歯があり、ロゼット状につきます。茎葉は倒卵形からさじ形で、縁に大きな鋸歯があります。８月から１０月ごろ、直径３ミリほどの球形の頭花を下向きに咲かせます。果実は狭倒卵形の痩果で、長さは２ミリほどです。

キク科ヨモギ属の多年草で、学名は Artemisia keiskeana。英名はありません。

"Inu-yomogi" (Artemisia keiskeana) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native throughout Japan, the Korean Peninsula and China. This herb grows on precipitous slopes and cliffs in mountains, and it can reach 30-80 cm in height. The stems which not bearing flowering-stalks are low, the broad spatulate leaves have large toothed edges and are arranged in rossete. The cauline leaves are obovate to spatulate with large toothed edges. The spherical flowerheads about 3 mm across bloom descending from August to October. The fruits are narrow-obovate achenes about 2 mm long.
