アメリカのフロリダ州から西インド諸島、それにメキシコから中央アメリカ、ベネズエラ、ブラジルに広く分布しています。岩場の棚や沼沢地の周辺に生え、樹木や岩などに着生します。長い花茎を分枝して、白色から淡紅色の花を咲かせます。唇弁の色は変異に富み、白地に紫色の筋から全体が紫色まであります。 |

The Delicate violet orchid (Ionopsis utricularioides) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is widely distributed from Florida in the United States to the West Indies, and from Mexico to Central America, Venezuela, and Brazil. It grows on rocky ledges and around swampy areas and attaches itself to trees and rocks. The long, branched flower stalks produce white to pale red flowers. The color of the lip is highly variable, ranging from purple streaks on a white background to purple all over. |
