アメリカの東部から中部、テキサス州に分布しています。二年草で、最初の年は低いロゼットを形成し、二年目になると茎が直立して、高さが６０〜１５０センチになります。葉は針形で細かく裂けています。５月から６月ごろ、橙赤色から赤色の筒状花を咲かせます。

ハナシノブ科イポモプシス属の二年草で、学名は Ipomopsis rubra。英名は Standing cypress、Texas plume。

The standing cypress (Ipomopsis rubra) belongs to Polemoniaceae (the Phlox family). It is a biennial herb that is native to eastern and central North America; from the state of Texas to the province of Ontario. It is forming a low rosette in the first year, and in the second year the stems stand upright and reach a height of 60-150 cm. The leaves are needle-shaped and split into small pieces. The orange-red to red tubular flowers come in bloom from May to June.
