The Juba's bush (Iresine lindenii) belongs to Amaranthaceae (the Amaranth family). It is a perennial evergreen herb that is native to Ecuador in South America. It grows in tropical rainforests and subtropical moist forests, reaching a height of 1 to 2 m. The stem is slightly grooved and grows upright. It also roots easily from the stem nodes. The leaves are ovate to lanceolate, with blood-red, bright red, or deep red veins standing out. In summer, it produces panicles at the tips of its branches, bearing small, inconspicuous white flowers.
