The Langsdorf's reedgrass (Calamagrostis langsdorffii) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a perennial herb that is native from Hokkaito to Honshu and Shikoku of Japan, as well as the Kamchatska Peninsula and East-northern Asia. This grass grows in sub-alpine to alpine marshes or grasslands, and it can reach 80-120 cm in height. The rootstocks are crawl transversally and grow gregariously. The panicles are borne atop of stems and produce solitary flowered spikelets from July to September. The inflorescences are drooping downward.
