The Tiger jaws (Faucaria sp.) belongs to Aizoaceae (the Ice plant family). It is a perennial herb. About 30 species of the genus Faucaria are native to the Great Karoo Plateau, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. They grow in clusters in stemless rosettes. The leaves are thick, triquetrous or semi-circular with radial spines. Yellow flowers bloom from fall to winter.
