フォウカリア属は、南アフリカの東ケープ州、大カルー高原に３０種ほどが自生しています。無茎のロゼットで群生します。葉は厚く３稜形または半円形で、縁に棘があります。秋から冬にかけて、黄色い花を咲かせます。 |

ツルナ科フォウカリア属の多年草で、学名は Faucaria sp. (属の総称)。英名は Tiger jaws。 |

The Tiger jaws (Faucaria sp.) belongs to Aizoaceae (the Ice plant family). It is a perennial herb. About 30 species of the genus Faucaria are native to the Great Karoo Plateau, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. They grow in clusters in stemless rosettes. The leaves are thick, triquetrous or semi-circular with radial spines. Yellow flowers bloom from fall to winter. |
