いわうめ (岩梅) [Index] [Back] わが国の本州、中部地方以北から北海道、それに東北アジアに分布しています。高山帯の岩場に生え、高さは２〜５センチになります。密なマット状の群落をつくります。葉は小さな倒卵形で全縁、密に互生します。７月から８月ごろ、淡い緑黄白色の花を咲かせます。花冠は、直径１センチほどの短い鐘形で５中裂し、盛りが過ぎるとしばしば赤みを帯びます。  イワウメ科イワウメ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Diapensia lapponica var. obovata。英名はありません。  "Iwa-ume" (Diapensia lapponica var. obovata) belongs to the Diapensiaceae family. It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed from Chubu district of Honshu to Hokkaido, and Northeast Asia. This tree grows on the rocky area of the alpine zone, and its height is 2-5 cm. It creates a dense mat-like community. The leaves are small obovate, entire, and alternate each other closely. The pale greenish yellowish flowers come in July to August.
