"Iwa-zakura" (Primula tosaensis) belongs to the Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to the Kii Peninsula and Gifu Prefecture in Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. This herb grows in rocky gravels and wetlands in the limestone zone, and up to a height of 5-10 cm. The leaves are round, shallow lobed, serrated and basal. The flower stalks are borne and magenta flowers bloom from April to June.
