The Oaxacan pine (Pinus pseudostrobus var. axacana) belongs to Pinaceae (the Pine family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is distributed on the Pacific side of southern Mexico, from the state of Guerrero to parts of Oaxaca. It grows 20 to 40 m tall, and its bark is grayish dark brown with deep crevices. It is well branched, with whorl-like twigs. The leaves are linear, 20 to 35 cm long, and five of them are borne in bunches. The leaves are triangular in cross section and are yellowish-white and powdery green. The fruit is a cone 10 to 16 cm long. The wood is white or slightly yellowish.
