The "Odoriko-kaguma" (Microlepia izupeninsulae) belongs to Dennstaediaceae (the Bracken family). It is an evergreen fern that is endemic to Japan and is distributed in Shizuoka Prefecture in Honshu, Tokushima Prefecture in Shikoku, and Kyushu. It grows under forests in mountainous areas and grows to a height of about 50 cm. The leaves are bipinnate compound with soft texture, and the pinnules are deeply incised compared to those of the "Fumoto-kaguma". The sorus is located on the inner side of the pinnae, and the hairs on the indisum are sparsely attached. The Japanese name is an allusion to Kawabata Yasunari's novel "Izu-no-Odoriko" (The Dancing Girl of Izu), as it was first discovered on the Izu Peninsula.
