おひるぎ (雄漂木)

わが国の南西諸島以南から、台湾やフィリピン、東南アジアに分布しています。浅い海の泥中に生え、高さは１０〜２０メートルになります。マングローブを形成する樹種のひとつです。呼吸根は地表面に屈曲して飛び出します。花は、赤い萼片がよく目立ち、多くの小鳥をひきつけます。鳥媒花です。別名で「べにばなひるぎ（紅花漂木）」とも呼ばれます。台湾華語では「紅茄苳」です。 |

ヒルギ科オヒルギ属の常緑高木で、学名は Bruguiera gymnorrhiza。英名は Burma mangrove。 |

The Burma mangrove (Bruguiera gymnorrhiza) belongs to Rhizophoraceae (the Mangrove family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is distributed southward from the Nansei Islands of Japan to Taiwan, the Philippines and Southeast Asia. This tree grows in tropical seacoasts and can reach 10-20 m in height. This species is a member of mangrove trees. The respiratory roots throw out from the muds. It is a bird-pollinated flower with pronounced red sepals that attract many bird's interests. It is called "紅茄苳" in Taiwanese Chinese. |
