わが国の本州から四国・九州、それに台湾や朝鮮半島、中国に分布しています。日当たり良い草地に生え、高さは２０〜６５センチになります。茎にはくも毛が密生します。根生葉は長楕円形でロゼット状に生え、両面にくも毛があります。５月から６月ごろ、黄色い頭花を散房状に咲かせます。果実は痩果で、上向きの白毛があります。台湾華語では「狗舌草」、中国語では「狗舌草（gou she cao）」と呼ばれます。

キク科キオン属の多年草で、学名は Senecio integrifolius ssp. fauriei (syn. Tephroseris integrifolia ssp. kirilowii)。英名はありません。

The "Oka-oguruma" (Senecio integrifolius ssp. fauriei) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan, as well as the Korean Peninsula and China. This herb grows in sunny grasslands and up to a height of 20-65 cm. The stem is covered with white spiderweb-like hairs. The basal leaves are oblong and grow in a rosette shape, and covered with white spiderweb-like hairs on both sides. The yellow flower-heads will bloom in a corymbs-like inflorescence from May to June. The fruits are achenes with upward white hairs. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "狗舌草" and "狗舌草" (gou she cao) in Chinese.
