"Okinawa-kujaku" (Adiantum flabelluatum) belongs to the family Parkeriaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed from Kyushu to the Nansei Islands in Japan, Taiwan, southern China, Southeast Asia, and India. It grows on the floor of rather dry forests in mountainous areas. It resembles the "Northern maidenhair fern" and its young shoots are reddish. It is also known as "Okinawa-kujaku-shida" in Japan. In Taiwanese Huayu, it is called "扇葉鐵線蕨", and in Chinese "扇葉鐵線蕨" (shan ye tie xian jue).
