The "Okinawa-suzume-uri" (Diplocyclos palmatus) belongs to Cucurbitaceae (the Gourd family). It is distributed from the Tokara Islands in Japan southward to Taiwan, Southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Australia. It grows in subtropical and tropical regions. The leaves are heart-shaped, palmately lobed with 3 to 7 lobes and serrated edges. Inflorescences emerge from the leaf axils and produce small female and male flowers. The corolla is white to pale yellowish green. The fruit is a spherical berry 15-25 mm in diameter with white stripes on a red background. In Taiwanese, it is called "雙輪瓜".
