おくのかんすげ (奥の寒菅)

わが国の北海道から本州、九州に分布しています。山地の林内に生え、高さは１５〜４０センチになります。地下に匍匐枝を伸ばして群生します。葉は幅広の長線形で、叢生します。葉の断面がＭ字形になるのが特徴です。４月から６月ごろ、雪解けとともに桿を伸ばして花を咲かせます。棍棒状の頂小穂は雄性、側小穂は雌性です。 |

カヤツリグサ科スゲ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Carex foliosissima。英名はありません。 |

The "Okuno-kan-suge" (Carex foliosissima) belongs to Cyperaceae (the Sedge family). It is a perennial evergreen herb that is native from Hokkaido to Honshu and Kyushu in Japan. This herb grow in mountain forests and it can reach 15-40 cm in height. It grows gregariously by the underground runners. The leaves are broad long-linear and clumping. They are characterised by M-shaped cross-section. The culms are borne after melting of snow and bloom flowers from April ti June. The club-shaped acrogyrous spikes are male and the pleurogerous spikes are female. |
