コーカサス地方から西アジアに分布しています。藪や森林に生え、高さは１５〜２５センチになります。葉は緑色で、卵形です。３月から５月ごろ、疎らな花序に濃青色の花を咲かせます。花冠には白色の眼があります。写真は、園芸品種の「スターリーアイズ（Starry Eyes）」。

The navelwort (Omphalodes cappadocica) belongs to Boraginaceae (the Borage family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Caucasus and West Asia. This herb grows in thickets or woods and can reach 15-25 cm in height. The leaves are mid-green and ovate. The deep blue flowers bloom in the sparse inflorescence from March to May. The corolla has a white eye. The photos are a cultivar 'Starry Eyes'.
