西インド諸島の小アンチル列島に分布しています。標高２００メートルまでの土地に生える着生ランです。扁平な卵形の偽鱗茎の先端に、長楕円形で舌状の葉をつけます。弓状の長い花茎を伸ばして、光沢のある淡い赤褐色の花を咲かせます。 |

The Oncidium altissimum belongs to Orchdaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in the Lesser Antilles archipelago of the West Indies. It is an epiphytic orchid that grows on land up to 200 meters above sea level. It bears oblong, tongue-shaped leaves at the tips of flattened, elliptic pseudobulbs. The long, arching scapes produce glossy, pale reddish-brown flowers. |
