クルミ科クルミ属の落葉高木で、学名は Juglans mandshurica var. sachalinensis。英名はありません。
The "Oni-gurumi" (Juglans mandshurica var. sachalinensis) belongs to Juglandaceae (the Walnut family). It is a tall deciduous tree that is distributed in various parts of Japan, as well as in Far Eastern Russia and Sakhalin. This tree grows in waste places along streams and can reach 7-10 m in height. The leaves are odd-pinnate compound with 5-9 pairs of leaflets. The flowers come in May to June as soon as foliation. The female inflorescenses are erect on the branches and the male ones are drooping from the axiles. The fruits are edible nuts and ripen in September to October.
