わが国の本州、中部地方以北の日本海側に分布しています。山地から亜高山帯の湿地に生え、高さは４０〜１００センチになります。全体に白い毛に被われます。葉は長卵形で羽状に全裂します。８月から９月ごろ、茎頂に花序をだし、まばらにピンク色の花を咲かせます。花冠の上唇は舟形、下唇は３裂します。

ゴマノハグサ科シオガマギク属の多年草で、学名は Pedicularis nipponica。英名はありません。

"Oni-shiogama" (Pedicularis nipponica) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Chubu district north to the Japan Sea Side of Honshu. This herb grows in montane to sub-alpine marshes and can reach 40-100 cm in height. The whole plant is covered with white hairs. The leaves are long-ovate and dissected pinnately. The cluster is borne atop of stem and the pink flowers bloom sparsely from August to September. The upper lip is boat-shaped and the upper lip is three-lobed.
