フィリピンからインドネシア、それにマレーシアに分布しています。他の木の着生して育ち、シカの角のような葉を垂れ下げます。着生している部分が栄養葉または貯水葉、長く伸びる部分が胞子葉と呼ばれます。胞子葉はしなやかでよく分かれ、長さが２メートルにもなります。葉の裏面は白い毛で被われます。

ウラボシ科ビカクシダ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Platycerium coronarium。英名は Staghorn fern。

Staghorn fern (Platycerium coronarium) belongs to the Polypodiaceae family. It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from the Philippines to Indonesia and Malaysia. This fern is epiphytic and grows on other trees, and hangs down the antler-like fronds. The epiphytic part is called sterile frond or impounding frond, and the elongated part is called fertile frond. The fertile fronds are supple and well divided, and grow as long as 2 m. The reverse side of the frond is covered with white hairs.
