The Stictocardia (Stictocardia tiliifolia) belongs to Convolvulaceae (the Morning glory family). It is an evergreen vine that is thought to be probably native to Africa or the tropical periphery of Asia. It is a large, spreading vine that is now widely planted. The leaves are broadly ovate to circular, waxy green, and have quilt-like veins. The flowers are reddish purple and morning glory-shaped. The stems, undersides of the leaves, and flowers are covered with silvery soft hairs. It is also known as "Afurica-asagao" (African morning glory) in Japan.
