"Oo-hina-no-usutsubo" (Scrophularia akudensis) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed throughout Japan and the Korean Peninsula. It grows in sunny grassland in mountainous areas and grows to about 1 m in height. The stem has four ribs, and the leaves are long ovate to ovate, opposite, with sharp serrations on the edges. From August to September, racemes emerge from the stem tops and leaf axils, producing small, urn-shaped, dark reddish-brown flowers.
