"Oo-iwa-inchin" (Chrysanthemum pallasianum) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Honshu; Toyama, Nagano and Gumma prefecture, as well as the Korean Peninsula and eastern Siberia. This herb grows in arid rocky places and grasslands, and it can reach 20-60 cm in height. The leaves are pinnately clefts to partites, and covered with woolly hairs on abaxial sides. The yellow flower-heads bloom in the corymbs atop of stems from September to October. The flower-head has only disk flowers.
