わが国の屋久島と奄美諸島に分布しています。海岸沿いに生え、高さは３０〜４０センチになります。葉は「のじぎく（Chrysanthemum occidentali-japonense）」より厚くて３中裂します。１１月から１２月ごろ、長い花柄の先に、直径３センチほどの淡黄色の頭花を咲かせます。

キク科キク属の多年草で、学名は Chrysanthemum crassum。英名はありません。

"Ooshima-noji-giku" (Chrysanthemum crassum) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Yaku Island and the Amami-Islands. This herb grows near seashores and can reach 30-40 cm in height. The leaves are thicker than "Noji-giku" (Chrysanthemum occidentali-japonense), and intermediate trilobate. The pale yellow flower heads, about 3 cm across, bloom on the long peduncles from November to December.
