わが国の九州、鹿児島県の徳之島から琉球列島に分布しています。川沿いの湿った斜面に生えます。葉はへら状倒披針形でロゼット状に根生します。春に花茎を伸ばして、総状花序に白い花を咲かせます。

ユリ科ショウジョウバカマ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Heloniopsis leucantha。英名はありません。

"Oo-shiro-shojo-bakama" (Heloniopsis leucantha) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native from the Tokuno-shima to the Ryukyu Islands in Japan. This herb grows on wet slopes along streams. The leaves are spatulate-oblanceolate and mostly in a basal rosette. The white flowers bloom in the racemes atop of flowering stalks in spring.
