おおしらびそ (大白檜曽)

わが国の本州、東北地方から中部地方に分布しています。多雪地帯に多く、亜高山帯に生えて、緩やかな傾斜地では高さ３０メートルにもなります。樹皮は暗灰色で、ほとんど平滑です。葉は線形で先端は丸く、枝に密生して小枝が見えないほどです。葉が立ち気味なので、葉の裏の白さが目立ちます。６月ごろに開花して、上向きにつく円柱形の球果となり、青紫色に熟します。別名で「あおもりとどまつ（青森椴松）」とも呼ばれます。また蔵王の樹氷は、この木に着氷したものです。 |

マツ科モミ属の常緑高木で、学名は Abies mariesii。英名は Maries fir。 |

The Maries fir (Abies mariesii) belongs to Pinaceae (the Pine family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is distributed southward to Tohoku district to Chubu district of Honshu in Japan. The tree grows in sub-alpine region of heavy snow and it can reach occasionally about 30 m in height. The barks are dark gray and close to smooth. The leaves are linear with round tips, and they densely cover on the small branches. The leaves are also somewhat erect and highly visible white abaxial side. The flowers bloom in June. The friuts are upright, columnar strobiles and ripen in bluish-purple. It is also known "Aomori-todomatsu", and the Zao's rime is icing on this tree. |
