"Oo-yuuga-giku" (Aster incisus) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed from Aichi Prefecture of Honshu westward to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, and the Korean Peninsula. It grows in wetlands, along the banks of rice paddies, and along roadsides, and grows 1 to 1.5 m high. The leaves are elliptic-lanceolate, becoming narrower at the base, and have sparse serrations on the edges. The upper leaves are linear-lanceolate, and the pale blue-purple to white ray florets bloom from August to November.
