"Orizuru-sumire" (Viola stoloniflora) belongs to Violaceae (the Violet family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Okinawa Island. This violet was discovered at the streamsides of Benoki River in 1982. However, the indigenous lands was flooded by a dam, and this speceis was included on EW (Extinct in the Wild). It spreads by undergrownd runners, and it can reach 5-10 cm in height. The leaves are round-cordate and about 1 cm long. The white flowers bloom from February to April. After flowering, it bears capsules.
