おりづるすみれ (折鶴菫) [Index] [Back] わが国の沖縄本島、辺野喜（べのき）川沿いで１９８２年に発見されました。ただ、自生地はダムの底に沈み、野生絶滅種なっています。匍匐茎を伸ばして広がり、高さは５〜１０センチになります。葉は円心形で、長さ１センチほどです。２月から４月ごろ、白い花を咲かせます。花後、�刮ﾊをつけます。 スミレ科スミレ属の多年草で、学名は Viola stoloniflora。英名はありません。 "Orizuru-sumire" (Viola stoloniflora) belongs to Violaceae (the Violet family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Okinawa Island. This violet was discovered at the streamsides of Benoki River in 1982. However, the indigenous lands was flooded by a dam, and this speceis was included on EW (Extinct in the Wild). It spreads by undergrownd runners, and it can reach 5-10 cm in height.
