「ダンシータンジェリン」と「ダンカングレープフルーツ」との交配種です。１９１１年に米農務省のＷ．Ｈ．スウィングルによって作出されました。果実は「タンジェリン」に似て、平均直径は７〜７．５センチ、色や質感は「オレンジ」により近いです。商業的収穫シーズンは１１月から１月まで。その成熟の早さ、優れた出荷品質、心地よい風味により、フロリダで人気の高いタンジェロになりました。

The Orlando tangelo (Citrus x tangelo cv. Orlando) belongs to Rutaceae (the Citrus family). It is a small evergreen tree that is a hybrid between Dancy tangerine and a Duncan grapefruit. It was made by W. T. Swingle of the USDA. in 1911. The fruit is tangerine-like with an average diameter of 7-7.5 cm, with the color and texture more closely the color of an orange. Commercial harvest season is from November through January. Its earliness of maturity, good shipping quality, and pleasant flavor made it the outstanding popular tangelo in Florida.
