The Ornithophora radicans belongs to Orchdaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Brazil. It is closely related to "Oncidium", and is a member of a single genus. It is epiphytic on trees and rocks, with creeping stems and flattened, elliptic, globose corms in places. The leaves are linear, with two on each corm. In the fall, the scape grows and produces small flowers. The genus name means "bird-like" in Greek.
