ブラジルが原産です。「オンシジウム」の近縁で、一属一種です。樹木や岩の上に着生し、匍匐茎を伸ばしてところどころに扁平な長楕円形の球茎をつけます。葉は線形で、球茎から２個ずつでています。秋、花茎を伸ばして小さな花を咲かせます。属名は、ギリシャ語で「鳥のような」という意味です。 |

The Ornithophora radicans belongs to Orchdaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Brazil. It is closely related to "Oncidium", and is a member of a single genus. It is epiphytic on trees and rocks, with creeping stems and flattened, elliptic, globose corms in places. The leaves are linear, with two on each corm. In the fall, the scape grows and produces small flowers. The genus name means "bird-like" in Greek. |
