南アフリカの中・北部からジンバブエに点在して分布しています。丘陵の岩礫地に生え、高さは１．５メートルほどになります。成長が早く、よく分枝します。葉はハート形で芳香があります。茎の先の総状花序に、小さなピンク色の花をいっぱい咲かせます。「ねこのひげ」の仲間です。

シソ科オルトシフォン属の半常緑多年草で、学名は Orthosiphon labiatus。英名は Pink sage、Shell bush。

The Pink sage (Orthosiphon labiatus) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a semi-evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from central and northern South Africa to Zimbabwe in scattered patches. It grows in rocky gravel on hillsides and grows to a height of about 1.5 m. It grows quickly and is well branched. The leaves are heart-shaped and aromatic. It produces a raceme of small pink flowers at the end of the stem. It is a member of the "Cat's whiskers" family.
