南アフリカのケープ地方が原産です。草原に生え、高さは３０〜４０センチになります。アメリカのカリフォルニア州では帰化していて、「フリーウェイデージー」とも呼ばれます。４月から７月ごろ、真ん中が青色の大きな白い花を咲かせます。このオステオスペルマム属の園芸品種は、「アフリカンデージー」と総称されています。

キク科オステオスペルマム属の多年草で、学名は Osteospermum ecklonis。英名は Blue and white daisybush、Freeway daisy。

The Blue and white daisybush ( Osteospermum ecklonis) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Cape region of South Africa. It grows in grasslands and is 30-40 cm tall. It is naturalized in California, the United States, it is also called "freeway daisy". It produces large white flowers with a blue center from April to July. Garden varieties of this genus of osteospermum are collectively known as "African daisies.
