南アメリカ原産の多年草です。別名で「ブルーキャッツアイ」とも呼ばれますが、青紫色の花弁とまんなかの白い斑が猫の目を連想させます。花期は８月から１１月ごろですが、夏の高温多湿には弱い植物です。

ゴマノハグサ科オタカンサス属の多年草で、学名は Otacanthus caeruleus。英名は Brazilian snapdragon。

The Brazilian snapdragon (Otacanthus caeruleus) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is native to South America. It is also known as "blue cat's eye", its blue-purple petals and white spots in the center remind one of cat's eyes. Flowering season is from August to November, but the plant is susceptible to high summer temperatures and humidity.
