南アフリカの西ケープ地方が原産です。高さは３０センチほどになり、葉は３出複葉で小葉は線形から倒卵形です。１０月から１２月ごろ、葉腋から花柄を伸ばし、藤桃色の花を咲かせます。咽部は黄色です。園芸品種もあり、「ロセア（cv. Rosea）」は濃いピンク色です。和名では「きだちはなかたばみ（木立花酢漿草）」と呼ばれます。

The tropical wood sorrel (Oxalis hirta) belongs to Oxalidaceae (the Wood sorrel family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Western Cape Province of South Africa. This herb can reach about 30 cm in height. The leaves are 3-lobed compounds with linear to obovate leaflets. The peduncles are borne on the axiles and bloom violet-pink flowers from October to December. The collora has a yellow throat.
