The Narrow-leaved sorrel (Oxalis polyphylla) belongs to Oxalidaceae (the Wood sorrel family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces of South Africa. It grows in moist plains and outcrops in subtropical biomes, and is 20 to 30 cm tall. The stem is thin, upright and branched. At the end of the petiole, there are 3 to 7 narrow leaflets that branch out like open fingers. From March to June, it produces umbels at the end of the scape, and dark purple, pink, lilac or white flowers bloom.
