アメリカの東部から中部に広く分布しています。明るい林内や河岸、大草原などに生え、高さは１０〜２０センチになります。葉は３出複葉で、小葉はハート形です。４月から６月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして紅色から赤紫色の花を咲かせます。雄しべは１０個です。 |

The Violet wood sorrel (Oxalis violacea) belongs to Oxalidaceae (the Wood sorrel family). It is a perennial herb that is widely distributed in the eastern and central parts of the United States. It grows in light woods, along river banks, and in prairies, and is 10 to 20 cm tall. It has trifoliate leaves with heart-shaped leaflets. From April to June, it produces red to reddish-purple flowers on scapes. There are 10 stamens. |
