"Oze-zasa" (Sasa yahikoensis var. oseana) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is an evergreen bumboo that is distributed only in Oze, which is located on the border of three prefectures of Honshu in Japan, Fukushima, Gunma, and Niigata. It is a variety of "Yahiko-zasa" (Sasa yahikoensis), and is characterized by the dense growth of fine hairs on the clum sheath, leaf sheath, and internodes, and long hairs on the nodes. The underside of the leaf is also densely covered with fine hairs.
