The Angiopteris yunnanensis belongs to the family Marattiaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed in Yunnan and Guangxi provinces in southern China, as well as in northern Vietnam. It mainly grows in subtropical forests and is 2 to 5 m tall. The leaves are bipinnate compound, with 15 to 30 pairs of pinnules. The pinnules are lanceolate, 7 to 20 cm long, with sharp tips and shallowly toothed edges. The sorus is attached to the leaf margin. It is called "雲南蓮座蕨" (yun nan lian zuo jue) in Chinese.
