The Snow cinquefoil (Potentilla nivea) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in Hokkaido, the high mountains of the central Honshu region in Japan, as well as the northern Korean Peninsula, northern China, and widely in the northern part of the Northern Hemisphere. It grows 10 to 25 cm tall and resembles the "Miyama-kinbai". The leaves are trifoliate with dense white wooly hairs on the underside and stems. It is called "雪白委陵菜" (xue bai wei ling cai) in Chinese.
In Korean, it's called "eun-gul-yang-ji-kkot" (은굴양지꽃). This is a compound word consisting of "silver" (eun: 은) + "Kiji-mushiro" (yang-ji-kkot: 양지꽃). It was named for the dense white fuzz on the underside of its leaves.
