南アメリカのペルーからコロンビアにかけて分布しています。アンデス山系の湿潤な森林地帯に生え、高さは１５センチほどになります。よく分枝して節から根を伸ばし、マット状に広がります。葉は楕円形で、紫緑色の地に、薄紅色の網目状葉脈目立ちます。穂状花序を伸ばして、淡い黄白色の花を咲かせます。

キツネノマゴ科フィットニア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Fittonia verschaffeltii var. pearcei。英名は Pink nerve plant。

The Pink nerve plant (Fittonia verschaffeltii var. pearcei) belongs to Acanthaceae (the Acanthus family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in South America from Peru to Colombia. It grows in moist forested areas in the Andes Mountains and grows to a height of about 15 cm. It is well branched, rooting from the nodes and spreading in mats. The leaves are elliptic, purple-green with light red reticulate veins. Spikelets grow outward and produce pale whitish yellow flowers.
